Sydney Blended Time-lapse - Panorama

The Sydney skyline is a truly iconic sight, one I have enjoyed imaging in all types of conditions, gorgeous days and stormy nights, vibrant sunrises, and fiery sunsets. The ever-changing lighting gives each image a different feel and brings something new to the amazing view every time I capture it.

With this panorama I wanted to illustrate how the beautiful features of the Sydney cityscape change as the light sets in the evening, how a gorgeous clear day changes through a warm gentle sunset, into a cool evening glow, whilst the city's lights come to life.

This was a tricky image to accomplish, as the setting sun caused rapidly changing light levels and the need for different filters across the image. Also, the photos were captured through a telephoto lens, so I had to take great care to avoid any vibrations and keep the camera perfectly still, including preventing the evening's breeze from moving the camera even slightly, and disturbing the longer exposures.

I finished this panorama by blending the differently lit areas of the image together, which created this wonderful result, an image with the city graciously slipping from day to night across the skyline.
