Bouddi Panorama

Bouddi National Park draws its name from the indigenous word ‘Bouddi,’ which has various meanings; however, it is commonly used to mean ‘Heart Land’ or ‘Water Breaking over Rocks.’

The coastline features sandstone cliffs and escarpments, many of which contain ‘Liesegang Rings,’ elegant concentric swirls and loops within the exposed rock faces. While Liesegang Rings are a relatively common occurrence, their formation is still the subject of study.

For this image I kept the star trails a little shorter than usual to keep them from overwhelming the beautiful rocks in the foreground. I also went with something a little different, a ‘Comet Trails’ effect whereby the trails intensify slightly as they progress.

I imaged the foreground just before sunrise whilst the light was soft and warm on the rocks, and a touch of cloud formed in the cool winter air, giving the sky a lovely ambience.
