Kookaburra in Flight
The Laughing Kookaburra is one of Australia’s most iconic birds, well known for their distinctive ‘laughing’ calls. They are the largest species of kingfisher, and tend to live in dry woodland areas, where they hunt by perching and pouncing on prey that passes beneath them.
This Kookaburra, a young female, was imaged as she swooped down from a tree to a lower lookout, to inspect the ground for insects and food.
