Kookaburra Landing
The Laughing Kookaburra is one of Australia’s most iconic birds, well known for their distinctive ‘laughing’ calls. They are the largest species of kingfisher, and tend to live in dry woodland areas, where they hunt by perching and pouncing on prey that passes beneath them. This particular Kookaburra, an adult male, was imaged doing just that; swooping down to the ground to ambush some prey.
