Perth Esplanade Planet - Sunset

This image was taken from Elizabeth Quay, a beautiful outdoor space on the banks of the Swan River in Perth. Elizabeth Quay was designed with the idea of reconnecting the city with the river; the popular space includes parks and playgrounds, ferry terminals for scenic river cruises as well as space for events and entertainment.

This piece was captured just as the Sun began to set on the horizon, reflecting brightly and beautifully off the still water in the Quay beneath. To the left of the planet the silhouette of Elizabeth Quay pedestrian bridge can be seen, with its elegantly leaning arched supports. To the top right are the buildings of Perth’s Business district and in front of that the ‘Spanda’ structure can be seen on the water’s edge, a series of six nested white arches created to give the impression of an ever-expanding vibration.
