South Africa Late Afternoon

The plains of Africa are a place where I have found a calming peace unlike anywhere else on Earth. The remote, serene, wide-open spaces offer an escape from our often-busy world, and a reconnection with our beginnings. It is a place I’ve never felt bored or wanting for entertainment, but rather the plains, mountains and bushveld consume the senses. The more time I spend gazing at the astonishing scenery, the more I discover, and the more I am in awe of this place.

This panorama was captured in the Waterberg, a section of Sandstone rock formations formed by millions of years of erosion, in northern Limpopo, South Africa. Captured in the late afternoon, the Sun’s rays fell magnificently on the mountains and plains, and a lone grazing white rhino perfectly completed the amazing vista.
