There is always something exciting about watching a thunderstorm. From the rush of cool air preceding its arrival, the distant rumbles rippling through the sky, through to the surging rain accompanying the tremendous show of light and sound. It is an experience that is always a mix of peaceful and exhilarating.

Sydney is no stranger to these impressive spectacles. On this night powerful storms formed on the ranges to the west of Sydney and the strong winds aloft swept them through the Sydney basin. Numerous waves of storms rolled through, some creating a wonderful show of distant lightning far north of the city, and some passing more closely, creating enormous powerful bolts that struck nearby and shook the surrounding buildings with their tremendous thunder. Truly a thrilling sight to watch.
